What to Expect

"I rejoiced with those who said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the LORD.'" - Psalm 122:1

Sunday Mornings

Each week, we are invited into the Divine drama…the story of God and God’s people! We gather as a diverse body, united in Christ through the power and fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

As we gather, we encounter the revelation of our Triune God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit) through the Word (Holy Scripture), the sacraments (Baptism & Communion), prayer, confession, creeds, music, and the arts. This encounter with the Living God invites us to respond both individually and corporately in praise, in service, and in mission.

At Vriesland, we value our identity as a people deeply rooted in the ancient traditions of the historical Christian Church AND we value the unique and dynamic ways that God is moving among us in our current culture and context. Therefore, our passion and purpose is to cultivate Biblically faithful, corporately authentic, and culturally relevant services of worship.

Sunday Worship Schedule

Sunday, April 2 Chosen People Ministries will lead Vriesland in a celebration of Passover (explanation below). We will have one service at 10:00AM in the gym. The service will last approximately two hours and will include a full lunch. Nursery will be provided.

If you're not soaking up the sun in Florida, we hope you'll join us!

Passover is a holiday of remembrance and a holiday of hope. For the Jewish people, Passover is the annual celebration of God delivering Israel out of Egypt. The entire service, with its various ceremonies, is designed to help the Jewish people remember the great workings of God when, through signs and wonders, He freed the Jewish people from the bondage of the Egyptians and delivered them to the promised land of Israel.

The last meal Jesus ate with His disciples in the Upper Room was a Passover meal. It was during this Passover meal that Jesus took the bread and the cup and said to His disciples that these represented His body given in death and His blood shed for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus used the story of the Exodus to give meaning to the redemption he was about to provide on the cross. For Christians, Passover provides a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. We rejoice, for "Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed for us."
