What to Expect

"I rejoiced with those who said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the LORD.'" - Psalm 122:1

Sunday Mornings

Each week, we are invited into the Divine drama…the story of God and God’s people! We gather as a diverse body, united in Christ through the power and fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

As we gather, we encounter the revelation of our Triune God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit) through the Word (Holy Scripture), the sacraments (Baptism & Communion), prayer, confession, creeds, music, and the arts. This encounter with the Living God invites us to respond both individually and corporately in praise, in service, and in mission.

At Vriesland, we value our identity as a people deeply rooted in the ancient traditions of the historical Christian Church AND we value the unique and dynamic ways that God is moving among us in our current culture and context. Therefore, our passion and purpose is to cultivate Biblically faithful, corporately authentic, and culturally relevant services of worship.

Sermon Series - Micah 6:8

Sunday, February 19 - Blaine Newhouse

Scripture:  Micah 6:8

Message:  'The Church and Justice'

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

Many people know that the Bible speaks at length about forgiveness and grace. Less well known is the Biblical teaching that a real experience of forgiveness and grace will lead inevitably to a heart for social justice. That is a convicting and challenging reality, yet one that also offers hope in the midst of our broken world.

We'll be spending some time in Micah 6:8, exploring the biblical theme of social justice and how the grace we've received in Jesus compels us to that end for the glory of God. Join us!
