Serve in the Community

"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." - 1 John 3:17-18

Feeding America

Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity. They seek to feed the hungry through a nationwide network of food banks. Vriesland Reformed has partnered with 3rd CRC in running a monthly food pantry in Zeeland. Once every month Vriesland pitches in to purchase 10,000 pounds of food, which is then distributed to families in need on Saturday's at 9:30am.

If you’re interested in a chance to serve the community and connect with others at Vriesland this is a great opportunity. We need help organizing and distributing the food. But more importantly we need people who are willing to listen to and love others in our community. All are welcome! Find a sign up in the lobby every month.

Hand2Hand ministries is a resource for children who face hunger each weekend. The ministry gets its name from Psalm 145:16, “You open your hand and provide for the desires of every living thing.” On Fridays we provide children with a backpack full of healthy food for them to take home over the weekend so that they can continue to succeed academically, emotionally, socially and physically. VRC partners with Adams Elementary to provide food to students in need. Our prayer is that the children receiving food will one day realize that God himself has been caring for them all along.

Kids Hope

Kids Hope USA is a faith-based ministry that pairs church members with an elementary student from a local school. VRC serves the students at Adams Elementary in Zeeland. Kids Hope volunteers meet with one student (the same student) for one hour a week throughout the school year. Prayer partners are also assigned to each mentor and student to pray for the needs of both mentor and child. This mentoring process helps kids with their schoolwork but it also provides them with a role model and friend who can demonstrate the love of Christ, one child at a time. This is a fun and rewarding opportunity for anyone who likes spending time with kids.

Celebrating 15 years of past and present Mentors.  Will you be the future?

The Foundry

The Foundry is a more contemporary worship service led by Pastor Eric Folkers. It exists to be a community that is fearlessly devoted to knowing God and making Him known in the world. Through Worship, The Word and a Community that does life together, The Foundry will be centered on Jesus Christ and devoted to revealing him through our lives and the way we travel this road of life together. This is a place where everyone from the most mature Christians to the most cynical and hurt unbelievers are welcome to come and meet Jesus on His terms, not ours.
